Back in business

This sure was different.
After months of being tied to a dock and taking part in the BP charade of pretending we were an oil response vessel, we are now back in business as an oil transporter.
Our boat is actually moving again.
Yesterday was crew change and we joined our tug as she made her way up the river to Houston, Texas.

Our barge has been stripped of the millions of dollars of equipment that was installed on her by BP just months ago, when the public was crying for answers to the oil spill caused by the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

BP waged a war against the oil by attacking it with dispersant, using quantities never before seen rendering it invisible and silencing the cry's of the outraged public.
BP won the PR war for now. But that might change.

As the oil lurks below the surface removed from the public eye, a Green Peace ship, complete with scientist and equipment is, as I write this, cruising the waters of the Gulf of Mexico in the area where the Deepwater Horizon blew up, performing tests that will shed a true light on the ramifications of the oil spill.
They will be in the area for months.

Their test results may differ a bit from the BP party line.
Probably not the Christmas present BP was hoping for.

I read about those dispersants used... and the clumps they leave behind, killing vital organisms such as krill which feed whales among others... They may have created a whole new "toxic spill" with their remedy.

Mark,
Every bird in your photograph is perfect... and all together the birds following your boat make a stunning picture. I've printed it... so I can see it on the wall above my computer. Thanks, my friend... Have a perfect Christmas.

You nailed the problem, Mark. I was horrified to see all the chemicals BP was pouring into the water. They can't avoid the truth forever, thanks to groups like Green Peace.

Nice to see you all are chugging along again. You might have lost your "sea legs" if you'd been tied up much longer.
