Attitude, Rings and Olives

Last we spoke, or last I wrote, I was about to leave for a little 3 day trip from Corpus Christi, Texas to New Orleans, LA.
Thanks to Tropical Storm Andrea, our 3 day trip turned into a 6 day trip. Mother Nature is like that sometimes.

After 6 days without news I was anxious to scan the headlines today.
I see that Mrs. Obama "got all up in someones grill" (I've  been watching to much "The Wire" ) the other day. I'm not sure of the particulars, but I like a feisty First Lady.

I think Lebron James ( everyones pick to be the next Michael Jordan), the King of the Miami Heat basketball team, should take a page out of Flotus's playbook, and get all up in someones grill, instead of telling his coach he needed some rest at the beginning of the fourth quarter of the first game of the NBA finals.
Lebron says he was "fatigued."

As time passes, Jordan's shadow seems to fade a bit, especially when Lebron has one of his crazy off the wall good games. Some might think, maybe he is the next MJ.

Let's gather out thoughts a minute here. Lebron has won 1 championship ring so far, and as his quest for a 2nd ring nears it's end, Lebron is "fatigued." Seriously? Take me out of the game coach?

Jordan won 3 rings in a row, then he retired and made a fool of himself playing pro baseball, then he unretired and went on to win 3 more rings with basically a different team.

Jordan never asked to be removed from a NBA finals game, that would have shown weakness. It's that mentality that separates him from the rest. If people would stop trying to find the next Jordan, I would stop harping on this.

On a rantless note,
I was reading the news today,
yes, I was actually reading a newspaper, kind of a strange feeling,
I read a story in the food section about Tapenade.
Are you familiar with this tasty little treat?

In case you're not,
tapenade is basically chopped olives mixed with a variety of herbs and spices
and you spread it on bread or dip into it with a chip of some sort.

The article went on to say that this dish originated
in the Provence area of France.
I KNOW!

Pictured below is "olive lady."

She was setting up her stand in one of the markets
we went to while in Provence recently.

She kept saying hers wasn't classic tapenade
because it wasn't chopped.
I don't know how exactly she got her olives to resemble mud
but she did.
And she let us taste every little flavor she had.

This stuff on fresh bread.....
I could eat all day.

In fact, I did.

She may have been the nicest, most entertaining lady we encountered on our trip.
As we walked by her stand again an hour later as we were leaving,
she remembered us.
She should have,
we bought about 3 or 4 containers of her delicious spread.

I am not a big fan of tapenade but that's probably because I haven't had any that's really fabulous. Anything on bread while walking around France is amazing, isn't it?

I love tapenade with a fresh loaf of crusty, salty french bread - yum!

Michael Jordan is a class act. Lebron will never have the stuff that is made of, he has already proved this in his actions.

With mouth watering... I'm going to head out on my bike into San Diego in search of tapenade... I'll try the Middle Eastern grocery store on El Cajon Boulevard where there are dozens of containers of amazing olives like the ones in your pictures. I'll get some olives, check the internet for recipes, and see if I can make some tapenade that looks like mud.

I've never had the opportunity to try tampenade but would certainly like to. It sounds good.

I'd be 'fatigued' trying to figure out how to spend all that money.

Just from looking at 'olive lady', you can tell she has an exuberant personality. I bet she was fun.
