Working out the kinks

As I mentioned before, I have a new phone.  A smart phone to be exact. It's smarter than me.
But, as I play with it, I've learned a few things.

One, when I take a photo and upload it to Blogger, it only uploads the LINK and not the photo. My previous post is evidence of what I still need to figure out.
Most of my friends know by now that I bought my first "smartphone" because I have been peppering them at all times of the day and night with photos. It's just so easy.

Hey, you wanna see my workboots? Click, there ya go.
Do you like asparagus? Well, here's a photo of some.
Here's what my coffee cup looks like.
Here's a picture of a rubber band on my desk.
And here's a picture of me...again.

I'm out of control.

Another thing I learned........
I didn't realize that this thing is synchronized with my email and Facebook and every other means of communication that I am tied to.
I learned this.
Turn off the notifications sound. If not, nothing will get done.
I spent the first 3 days running to my phone every time I heard a "Ping."
If I get a FB message.....ping...and I drop what up doing and go pick up my phone.
Doing the dishes and a email message comes in....Ping! Hurry Mark, get to the phone and see what unimportant message just came in.
I was better trained than any dog I ever had.
When that ping went off it was like I was tazered.

It's like I'm a alien who just arrived on this earth. I was mentioning to my fellow crew mates an app called Shazam, where you hold up the phone and it tells you what the name of the song is that is playing in the room. I found that quite amazing and was sharing this info with them , with the excitement of a toddler seeing Santa Clause, when my buddies just rolled their eyes as if to say, "Listen to this rookie."

Anyway, I have put myself on a self imposed smartphone lockdown, for certain parts of the day. I do believe I can go for a few hours without seeing the latest status of my friends.

My phone has been blowing up with emails from my legislators concerning this government closing. Oh, now I hear from you. Where were you when I was contacting YOU about important issues I wanted to talk about? Like....say....crazy people running around with semi-automatic weapons? Where was your response? I'm not counting the generic reply I received. I didn't want a tour of the capitol, I wanted to know what you were going to do about gun control. Well, I heard nothing because you didn't do anything.
So, I did respond to my congressman today.

Dear Congressman,
Thank you for contacting me. I am very interested to hear your concerns and I want you to know I am doing everything I can on your behalf.
My office is always open, please don't hesitate to call on me again for it is my priority to get this country moving forward again. I apologize for not answering whatever question you may have asked me in your email to me, but like you, I don't read them, I only generated generic reply's thanking you.
Feel free to contact me again, as I pay your salary.
Sincerely
Mark Finucane

We have pretty useless people in D.C. these days. It would be so refreshing if just once they listened and responded with an honest and honorable answer. Don't get me started.

If only our legislators were as smart as our phones ...

I had more fun reading this blog post today than with anything else I was doing. I'm sure you won't mind
my cutting and pasting your letter and copying to every member of Congress... Of course, I'll give you credit...
