As I mentioned before, my wife has been slowed a bit because of a broken ankle, so while I was on the boat last hitch, I couldn't wait to get home to help her around the house.

I knew what I was getting into. After all, I'm home 180 days out of the year. I see what it takes to run a household and to keep a fleet of animals well cared for.
What's the big deal?
I do pitch in you know. I empty dish washers, clean the kitchen and actually throw a load of cloths in once in a while if the stars are lined up correctly.

After 2 1/2 weeks of taking on most of the daily duties, as well as driving Miss Daisy around,
let me say this.

I GIVE!

UNCLE!

YOU WIN!

CAN'T KEEP UP!

I'M TAPPING OUT!

Here's a little of what's going on around here.

Did you feed the cats?
Umm.......

Remember Izzy gets the canned food, not the dry.
Oh, yeah, sure.

Huck only gets the dry and Tiggy gets a Fancy Feast on top of the washer so the other cats don't interfere.
What?

Did you put a bowl of dry out on the deck?
Umm...

Sammy only gets dry, she throws up the canned.
Oh great!

Did we give Izzy her shot? ( diabetic)
Umm, think so.

Honey, there's 3 days worth of mail hanging out of the mail box, can you bring that in when you get a chance? (I thought there was room for one more day.)

Did you give Ginger some water?
What?

Honey, I appreciate your help but you have to separate the colors from the whites, I'm not making this up.
Bull sh!t

Can you get these groceries today, the frig is looking a bit bare.
uh, sure.

You have to read the labels before putting them in the dryer, some get hung up, some get laid flat.
I just dump them in together when I'm on the boat.

Can you pick up Izzy's insulin today.
Sure...where's that vet located again?

Rosie looks a little chunky, can you take her for a walk?
Love to, after I vacuum, take out the trash and separate my whites from my colors!

.....and then it was lunch time.

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, this running a household thing is for the birds.
While all this was going on, we were in the middle of a painting project. I kept telling my wife to chill out, I got this.
I guess she didn't believe me.
She actually painted a 20 x 8 foot wall, while balancing on one leg.

That's just showing off.

Below are the results of another walk I took while waiting for Miss Daisy to return from training a client.

It was a beautiful day.

...and my favorite

LOL... welcome to our world. The itty bed on the boat isn't looking so bad, is it?

Beautiful countryside!!!.. the grass photo reminds me of ANTZ.

Hahaha! Great writing - I love your humour! And I also loved the photo of the dandelion.

Your wife sounds so patient...she has to be with a husband who's only home 180 days out of the year! Good job though...and I agree, the dandelion is my favorite. Hope the ankle heals quickly.

Nice pics, Mark and nice try on the home front. I think all husbands should have such an "opportunity" to handle all the little household chores that make the world go around -- they're never-ending! My personal bane is dusting -- as soon as I finish it comes back!!

Wow! Not just the writing... the photographs, too. All stunning. Looking at the world from our hill in San Diego, I have to strain to remember what springtime looks like in a part of the world that has real seasons. Thanks, Mark. Your beautiful photographs help me recall. By the way, I like what you do with fences.

I can't believe you had time for picture taking not back to work! It's nice to be appreciated and it does take a team to run most houses. Good job for pitching in!
