Once again, at 8PM EST last night, life as we know it came to a stop, and we settled in for a hour and a half of Idol.
Jennifer Lopez once again, made my down time well worth it.
And, oh yeah, the singers were pretty good too.
I received a note from my sister the other day. And check this out, it came in a stamped envelope
and showed up in my mail box.
The one in the street.
I'm serious.
Not in my "inbox" and not in my message folder via Facebook,
but in a white envelope.
It seems she had to attach a little square patch to the upper right corner of the envelope,
currency of some kind, before the post master would put the envelope in the saddlebag
and send it across the state of Pennsylvania.
And get this! Inside was a hand written note, on a piece of paper.
I AM NOT KIDDING!
The letters she made on the paper were in a foreign script of some kind, with curves.
It was not written in the Arial or Times font of which I have become so accustomed.
I can't remember the last time I received a handwritten letter from someone.
Is that good or bad?
Back to Idol.
Watching the remaining contestants last night was like attending seven, 3 minute concerts.
I mean seriously, how good are these guys.
I think now it basically comes down to what kind of music you prefer.
None of them can be voted off because they can't sing.
I'm sticking with my prediction of months ago.
James, the rocker, will be....THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL!

You're a lucky guy getting snail mail! Just think: your sister actually handled that piece of paper, licked the envelope she sent it in and might have even licked the stamp! How personal can it get!? I love snail mail!
I love snail mail too, especially when it's GOOD news. A dying art.
I am amazed at the Idol talent this year, and I LOVE the judges. One in particular. Yeah, him.
I have been getting so many cards and notes, and I know, I love it! The feel of it, and I can look at it, and you see personality in the handwriting... its a lost art I'm starting to think. (She says as she pounds away at the keyboard!) I haven't watched Idol at all- now I know something is really wrong with me!
james is amazing. so ridiculously amazing. and i agree with you.....they can all sing !!!
the end will be interesting....to see who actually walks away with the title, because right now they could all take it !!
Don't watch tv so can't comment on Idol. BUT - I LOVE real mail! What a thrill when I go get to the mailbox and there's a real envelope with real writing on it!
I confess - I'm not watching Idol this year because Simon Cowell isn't there. And actually, I don't like Jennifer Lopez!
Yes, I remember when I used to approach the 'out-on-the-street' mailbox with a degree of excited anticipation. I get a few cards from time to time, but I can't remember when I last got a real letter.
I hope you're having a good Easter. Cheers.
Mark,
I've been "out of pocket" traveling... for a couple of weeks, but I've kept up with your blog posts every day... sorry about broken ankles and other complications... but celebrate your springtime. One of my weeks of wandering were in your neck of the woods... loved poking around with a camera, but I didn't top your pictures of wooden fence or the one of the woods with one blooming white tree in a scene that would make Money jealous as hell that you were there and he wasn't. Fantastic!
I'm going to have to stop long enough to reread and edit my responses to your fine photographs and writing... "One... should have been "was" not "were"... and "Money" should obviously be "Monet"... but I guess money would be nice. I've got to be more careful, or I'll be the one with a broken ankle... or something.
