Day 1 and 2 of California trip.

My wife and I were talking about how nice it would be to enjoy a nice glass of Pinot Noir,
so we jetted off to one of  California's wine regions, located just north of LA.
A bit extreme you say?
Well.....that's just how we roll!
( actually we found really cheap air fares on Travelzoo and have been planning this for months.)

Because of this trip, I have been absent for some time from my Blog world.
I do not drink and Blog!

As you can see below, we had a lot of work to do in a short period of time.

We spent 2 days enjoying the sights and sounds and tastes of this beautiful area. Solvang was the town we called home for that time.

If you're old enough to remember the TV show Daniel Boone, then you may remember the actor who played the part was Fess Parker. He played a mean Daniel Boone and it turns out he makes a nice Chardonnay too.

To detox from our 2 day wine tasting we headed south to Santa Barbara, where we stumbled upon this old mission. I love old stuff so it was quite a treat.

The next 2 days were spent near the beaches of Malibu, which will be in my next post.

Lovely! Sounds like a winner trip all the way around, just as long as you don't feel the need to join AA ;-).

Welcome to the West Coast!! Your photos look somewhat similar to some of mine:-) Had you driven a little more north, we could've had a glass of wine together. Enjoy your trip.

...I thought there was something different, something especially nice, in the California air these past few days. Now I know. You and your wife were here. Come back again... and include San Diego County. I can see from the photographs and the writing that you had a great trip.

Now this is fun, seeing the sights and sounds... wait there are no sounds. Nevermind, it's still fun to travel virtually.

Enjoyable and inexpensive trip.

Thanks! :)

I love Solvang and Santa Barbara area. The last time we drove through that area there was a bad fire and it was smokey. Sounds like a nice trip and now I must travel south I do believe.
