Normalcy? Just a little.

There's evidence everywhere that people are trying to move on from the depressing news of the last couple of days. I guess we can't spend every waking moment obsessed with the devastating heart breaking events that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut. One argument to that statement might be my Blog and Facebook page.
So, here is my attempt at normalcy. Baby steps.

The normal tranquil waters here in Aransas Pass are in a lather because of some strange weather front that is moving through Texas. It's putting a damper on my attempts to catch my favorite subjects in action.
They were out there today, I could see them but they were hiding behind the wave chop.

I kept waiting, hoping for some Cirque Du Soleil type activity they often perform.

I guess they were not in a playful mood today.

But then this guy came cruising by, which always makes my day.

Anyway..........................
5 more children were buried today.
I realized last night that I have failed as a father. If Larry Pratt, the voice of Gun Owners of America, is correct in suggesting that to lower the death by guns rate in this country, our teachers should be armed and ready to defend themselves, then 2 of my daughters who are teachers, are behind the 8 ball already and I am to blame.
When they were little I played dolls with them, but failed to familiarize them with the firing capability of a AK-47.
I taught them how to throw a baseball and dribble a basketball, but I failed to teach them how to change a 30 round clip in a  Sig Sauer.
When I was teaching them how to shake hands, nice and firm, I should have been training them in close quarters combat.

My bad.

They know how to check the oil in their car ( but I'm pretty sure they don't do it frequently enough) but are at a total loss when it comes to knowing they should flip their desk over on it's side before aiming their Bushmaster 223 at their assailant before emptying their clip into them.

Yeah, I failed as a Father.

Amazing, to see dolphins up so close. Lucky!!...

My cousin actually told me today that more people die at the hands of box cutter weilding assailants than gun users. LOLOL... ok.. so let me get this straight.. does he believe that if mental whacko had a box cutter in his hand instead of assault rifle, he would have gotten any further down the hall than the principle and school pshycologist in Newtown? I think not.

love love love any water scenes with creatures above or below :)

and your writing, in regards to "my bad" were so perfectly said....as my hubby would have said the exact same thing and would have added fishing and soccer to the what was taught when firing a gun of any kind wasn't......

It's beyond reason and now the NRA wants to post armed officers at every school. Very sad.

The NRA's only interest is that they could sell more guns.... to teachers. Ugh!

i'm all for letting texas succeed. it's plenty big enough to allow all gun toters to live the way they see fit. then if they want to come visit the other 49, they have the leave their weapons at the door.
;)

meanwhile, you some lovely scenery to reflect upon...

There are wacky arguments on both side of the gun fence, I'm not going there. I think the pelican is very cool, they are so different!

Reading your blog - and most of the comments - gives me hope that I'm not alone. Seeing your images helps me remember there's a greater beauty and grace which survives no matter how much humankind tries to mess it up. Thanks for a moment of 'light' in a world which has seemed very dark this week.
