Embarrassing, Surprising and a gentle giant.

I never thought I'd see the day where I would be clapping for Mitt Romney, but now that he has distanced himself from the toxic wasteland that is Washington DC, he has had a moment of clarity. Even Mitt disagrees with the tactics used by the republicans, holding us all hostage and threatening to shut down the government if they don't get their way concerning Obama care.
Keeping the government running and Obama Care are 2 distinct issues which should not be linked together.
Romney thinks the end result will be damage to the republican party as a whole. Agreed.

Listening to both sides whine on TV about who's fault this is, frankly, is quite embarrassing.  I wonder what other nations are thinking, watching this circus unfold.
****
Speaking of other nations, I read where President Rouhani of the Islamic Republic of Iran re-tweeted President Obama........wait a minute......
Rouhani has a twitter account?
I need to follow him.

Which leads me to this thought,
If the President of Iran is tweeting, he obviously is internet savy,  what would be his thoughts on Miley Cyrus?
Is "wrecking ball" in his playlist?
Does Rouhani sit around a table with his top henchmen looking at their iphones saying, "look at this one...."

Today was one of those days that all pet owners despise. If you have been a pet owner, you know what I mean. If not, you have no clue how hard it is to make the decision to put a pet down. It's just brutal.
If you're the wife of a merchant seaman, there is a 50/50 chance you will have to deal with all that yourself. That comes with the territory, but it doesn't make it any easier.
Today, as I sit on a boat in the Mississippi River, the odds were against my wife. Thanks to the generosity of Carole, a dear friend of ours who insisted on being there, my wife was not alone. Let me be clear, Carole is my hero.

Ginger, a big bear of a dog,  has been a part of our family for close to 15 years. She's the one on the left getting a makeover from Huck. Ginger has always been particular about proper hygiene
.

Athletic she was not. I don't think she ever caught a ball in the air in her life. In the picture below, she attempts to sit on the floor and is confused as to why her butt didn't make it all the way down. The box of magazines got in her way.

With all that being said, she was the friendliest most gentle 100 lb dog you will ever come across, but man, could she swim.
Ginger was just the best.

I am in love with Ginger and I'm grateful to all the animals, including Mark and his family, who loved her for all those long years before I was introduced. I couldn't read all the way through today's BLOG post without stopping along the way to let my eyes clear... and the lump in my throat disappear. If there is anything to reincarnation, I want to come back as a dog or cat to live with your family, Mark.

I am so sorry. They never leave our hearts and I know without question that they are waiting for us. Thank goodness for a good friend to be with your wife.

I'm sorry for you loss, as a dog owner, I feel your pain. I think it's sweet how pets take care of each other.

Just a wild guess, I think Rouhani would be a loyal follower of Miley, hanging on her every tweet ;-)

I am soooo very sorry for this loss to your family and for your wife needing to take care of this.. But, CAROLE... you are a hero to all pet lovers around the world. My husband is gone for days sometimes as well so I know I would be in the same situation as your wife should a pet need to go to doggie heaven. It's just not fair that they can't live as long as we do... :(

Oh, I'm so sorry. I've been there more times than I would wish on anyone (3) and I know how hard it is to go through. Hugs to your wife and a big high five to Carole for being a superhero.

So sorry for you. I know what it's like to make that painful decision and, to tell the truth, I have never recovered. I've been unable to have another dog and it's a direct result of having to face that terrible, terrible day.

I've been in love with Ginger ever since you introduced her on your blog. All of us who have lost loved furry-ones feel your love and pain. God created dogs to help save humans from ourselves.
