Birds and such....

I thought I would test the blog waters once again
after a semi forced hiatus,
with a simple photo of a bird
that frequents our deck.

Why a bird you ask?
Well, it seems I have turned into my Mom.

I remember the days when I used to stop over my Mom's house,
and she would go on and on about the cute birds
or the dancing squirrels that entertained her as she peered out of her kitchen window.

I would happily engage in this conversation with her,
all the while rolling my eyes and wondering
"Is this what you do when you get older?"

Well, I'm here to tell you,
the answer is yes.

This winter my wife and I have spent WAAYYY too much time,
looking at, feeding and talking about birds.

We even downloaded a BIRD APP for my phone!!
WE ARE TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL.

I think some of my children are afraid to call anymore,
afraid they'll have to endure another 20 minute dissertation
of the latest yellow bellied sap sucker that came to feed.
Don't even think about dissing the yellow shafted flicker pictured above.
He's a regular.

And don't get me started on our squirrel friends.....

Mom would be proud.

I have never been interested in birds until the past few years. What's up with that????

He's a pretty handsome dude, I don't get too cool birds, I must be feeding them crap.
