I had a big basketball game Saturday.
I was feeling pretty good, and expected a good game.
I did my stretching,
and warmed up properly
before making my way up the stairs to my seat
to watch Salesianum, an all boys catholic high school
play against St. Georges.
I made it to my seat with no injury to report.
This game was for all the marbles.
The University of Delaware's Bob Carpenter Center was packed,
because
the Delaware State Championship was at stake.
The place was electric, it had that buzz in the air
that accompanies all big games,
high school, college or pros,
it doesn't matter
they all have that same buzz.
The game lived up to the local hype.
It was such a tension packed game that I was worn out just watching.
Literally, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time,
a roller coaster of emotions.
And Salesianum pulled it out in the last seconds.
Salesianum's star player cutting down the nets!!
Why am I so interested?
No, I'm not an Alum.
I don't even live in Delaware.
I no longer have kids in school.
But my daughter Bryn,
THE BEST SPANISH TEACHER EVER,
teaches at Salesianum.
She understands I am a former gym rat
who no longer has children to watch playing sports,
so she invites me at various times throughout the year
to come watch "Her Boys" play a game.
I mean, I'll watch curling if I got the chance.
But to get the chance to watch a very competitive
high quality high school championship basketball game....
that's not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Do yourself a favor
and check one out sometime.

My son and daughter played Basketball and we often say we miss those days, those games, the team spirit... We still enjoy the Uconn girls Huskies, but somehow it's not quite the same.
The conversations in the car ride home AFTER the games, however, are much more pleasant :-)
Sounds totally fun!
Great way to also support your daughter.
I grew up in DE and had some friends who went to 'Sallies'. At the same time, I was watching Villanova (my alum) trounce Georgetown on the tube, it would have been better in person :-)
I enjoy watching Basketball and yay for the win and it's nice to be a supportive dad too! Have a great week!
How fun for you. We enjoyed the three games we watched last year. Usually I don't care for sports, but being there in person is different. So glad you stretched first. :)
