Don't Ask/Don't Tell

Let me be clear. I love this Country. But I do disagree with one idiotic law that we have on the books, namely, Don't Ask/Don't Tell. I disagree with others also, but that's for later.

Our Government says, If you don't tell me your gay, I won't kick you out of the Military. And, oh by the way, I'm not allowed to ask if your gay, so fear not.
WHAT!

How stupid is this?
So, gays and lesbian patriots who want to serve in our military are forced to lie about who they really are. Oh, I get it now. Makes perfect sense.

I wish my employer would institute DADT in our work place, concerning liquor. "I won't ask if your drinking, but if you tell me your drinking, I'll fire you."
I swear, I don't have a drinking problem, but I could really go for a pint of Guinness right now, because I just finished watching the "talking heads" on Larry King Live discuss the pros and cons of this issue, and I need a drink.

Just a few things I learned.
1) Those darn gays will undermine our NATIONAL SECURITY!
2) Those darn Lesbians will ruin Unit cohesiveness.
3) If we let THEM in the Military, we may have to re-institute the draft because all the manly men will drop their M16's and run for the hills. (To safety I guess)

I planned initially to go on and on in this post , on this subject, but you'd be better served checking out Navy Wife, where she explains better than I can, how idiotic this law is.

Just think, within the year, if President Obama is correct, we can actually begin to phase out lying in the Military.

I'm with you 100% on this one, Mark. So idiotic and embarrassing, too, really, that people can be so close-minded.

Hi Mark we all do laugh about you american's here (sorry folks). But yes some of you are so sort minded it's awful. Don't take this personal because you made yourself cristal clear and I do agree. So when I saw the news this morning and it came to me I went...WHAT? They do that overthere....you should live in Holland, we are so open about it (okay still not everybody) but it's great to live in a country were you can (at least) discuss things in the open and live your life as you are.

If there's love involved what can be wrong?
Great that you've put it on here Mark.

AMEN, Brother

You know I totally agree with you because you've commented on two previous posts of mine about this very thing.

I still cannot understand how some people can believe all the twattle about gays and the damage they could do to the military or any other group for that matter. My experiences with gays have always been positive. That said, my younger (gay) brother was a pain in the butt as a kid, but I wouldn't trade him for anyone else.

Mark,
Your take on "Don't ask, don't tell, is spot on the MARK. I like the way you think... and the way you express what you're thinking.
