Olympic thoughts one week in

Just maybe, I've watched too many hours of downhill ski racing.
I was seen tonight standing at my front door, my dog at my side, her leash in hand, my eyes closed........
visualizing our last walk outside for the day.

I just had to know, so I looked it up. Curling stones are made of granite and weigh about 44 lbs. A set of 8 cost about $10,000.
It's no wonder you don't normally see kids in the playgrounds curling.
And they say golf is an expensive sport.

Is Apolo Anton Ohno just the baddest dude on skates or what?
Have you ever seen an athlete with a calmer demeanor while in the heat of battle?
While watching him take part in the always frantic short track event last night, he looked so bored for the first couple of laps that I thought he was about to pull out a smoke and light up while waiting for his inevitable last lap burst of speed.

Evan Lysacek's Gold medal winning performance wasn't half as impressive as his interview after with Bob Costas. Tiger woods would fare well by taking a page out of this kids book.

I'm playing with the idea of beginning training for the 2014 Olympic games as one of those sweeper guys on the U.S. Olympic Curling team. I just need to find out where I can get a pair of those shoes, you know, the ones where one foot slides on the ice and the other one doesn't.

When 2 golfers stand on a Tee waiting, the conversation often is about clubs. What kind do you have? What kind of driver do you have?
As I watched the women curling competition at midnight, I wondered if the 2 sweepers standing at the end of the ice were comparing brooms?
"Is that horse hair or hog hair?"

It was brought to my attention today that it's spring training time for major league baseball. I couldn't help but compare the workouts between say, pitchers and that of Lindsey Vonn.
Lindsey put hours in the gym squatting huge amounts of iron to build up those legs for her downhill races. I picture the pitchers bending at the waist and doing jumping jacks like a senior citizen group doing an aerobic workout.

I have been riveted to the TV as well. Amazing! And I do wonder how same seem so calm just before and even during the competition? And now baseball? Oh my! So much to do and so little time!! Sigh!!

Good luck with your sweeper dream...you can do it! Curling rocks.

But I'm curious to know what you think about the figure skaters...
