I think this is it.

Our dream is to live our retirement years on or near a beach.
My wife and I have been on a mission for years, trying to find that perfect (affordable)place.
While walking through the town of Dunmore on Harbor Island a few weeks ago, we stumbled on this little gem.

As I stood in front of it with my camera, a gentleman who lives across from it came out to say hello and talk about our new home.
It turns out he is the Realtor. As he explained to us it was 200 years old with an open floor plan inside, my mind danced with thoughts of renovation, flip flops and rum.

I could see myself waking up and putting on my shorts, hopping into my golf cart and
motoring to the beach that is 2 minutes away to catch the sunrise.

As he and my wife chatted, I was prancing around the building like a gazelle snapping pictures.
In my mind I already had the furniture picked out that I would sit in on that front porch,
as I sipped a Don Q, waving to passerby's while marveling at how tan my feet were.

"Excuse me," I said as I interrupted their conversation.
"What did you just say? This costs how much?"

It's listed for $500,000.

Needless to say, our search continues.

I like the dream... but, like you, the price is maybe four hundred thousand too much... But you know what they say in real estate about location... location...location. Jerral

You've got to be kidding me. So essentially, you're paying for the lot, which apparently is very valuable real estate.

What a great little place, it has good bones!.. sorry it came with a ludicrous price tag. I was starting to dream too!

I think that realtor had had too much sun or Don Q. No way would anyone put down that much dough! Now if the property was 5 acres with a private beach; maybe.

Keep the dream alive! You will find a waterfront place, but it may not allow you to go barefoot, in shorts year round. I'm thinking of the Great Lakes -- lots of shoreline on them . . . ;-}
