Like Huck Finn I'm on the Mississippi

As we pushed our barge up the mighty Mississippi River today
I couldn't help but think of Mark Twain's
Huck Finn.

I'm lying.

Actually I was thinking of the book
Shattered
and wondering to myself
why it has taken me 2 months to read.

I've been reading it for so long
I have no idea what the beginning of the book is about.

I'm nearing the end.
The end is very good,
the beginning, I have no idea.

You see, I read it when I go to bed.
I really should start reading it while in the sitting position.
That's my Thanksgiving resolution.

Your picture and then your mention of Huck Finn and Jim out on that raft in the Mississippi River made me remember and appreciate and think this is what it might be like for you sometimes...

"I hadn’t had a bite to eat since yesterday, so Jim he got out some corn-dodgers and buttermilk, and pork and cabbage and greens—there ain’t nothing in the world so good when it’s cooked right—and whilst I eat my supper we talked and had a good time. . . .We said there warn’t no home like a raft, after all. Other places do seem so cramped up and smothery, but a raft don’t. You feel mighty free and easy and comfortable on a raft."

LOL...the book has to be REALLY good for me to not fall asleep after 10 minutes of trying to read it. If it takes me more than a few weeks to read, I give it up and find a better one :-)

Cutting for STone got excellent reviews.. and I tried it, I really did.. until it took so long, I was forgetting the beginning.

I really like that last picture. I have been having the same problem lately, do you think it is the book? Normally I can stay awake, so I am thinking it is the book I am reading. Good resolution!
