Change?

Change is coming.
And the TSA is tickled pink.

It turns out, as travelers in the U.S. rush through airport security checkpoints, they often forget to retrieve their pocket change that they must remove from their pockets before going through the scanners manned by licensed TSA peeping toms.

This must happen a lot.
It's been reported that the TSA, in 2010, pocketed more than $400,000 in change.
That is not a typo. Four Hundred thousand bucks!

That could buy a lot of surgical gloves.

Republican Rep Jeff Miller from Fla, proposed legislation suggesting that the forgotten change should go to the USO.
This is one time I agree whole heartily with a Republican Rep.

But guess what.
He couldn't get the votes needed to make this a reality.

Shocking.

It would be interesting to know how the legislation was presented... and when the vote was taken, who did and who didn't support it... and what their reasons were for their votes. Of course, the folks in Congress these days don't seem to need logic help them decide how to vote. Is this just another of those "Let's not do anything" positions?

No he couldn't get the votes because most of the Republicans are selfish, rich guys. What a good idea that would have been too.

Unbelievable! Both the amount of money left behind AND the refusal of these people to actually DO any work - especially for good!
