Part of the security imposed on the docks throughout the U.S. these days
is to report anyone you see taking pictures
anywhere near a dock.
So I was understandably paranoid
when I took cover
to take a photo of this Coast Guard escort boat.
See the gun and the gunner on the bow?
I wanted no part of that.
This is what he was escorting up the Sabine River in Texas.
They tell me that this part of Texas,
the Port Arthur area
is one of the biggest transporters
of military....stuff.
I would love to know what was in that ship.
This thing was moving so slow
her bow was barely making a ripple.
No dolphin jumping in front of this ship,
too boring.
Hmmm.
What could be in there
that would warrant a armed escort front and back?

Scary... We've come to this. A ship carrying cars from Korea or Japan or Europe needs a gun patrol escort up an American river? You are right to wonder, I guess, what's really in that big ugly ship.
WOW, that's some monstrous SHIP, let alone what might or might not be IN there??.....
Wow I wonder....new secret airplane or some military special secret weapon....maybe a who and not a what?
Well, it is a foreign auto carrier but with a military escort? Hmmm. Now my curiosity is aroused.
