Chicken Scratch

Recent events overseas has moved me to write a letter supporting our troops, you know,  just jotting down a few words, from my comfortable air conditioned room on this tug boat, expressing my appreciation for what they are doing. It's not hard.

Here's what I learned. I can't write anymore. You know, the old way, holding a pen, pointing it at a piece of paper, and moving my fingers in such a way that words are formed. It's a mess. I guess I have to blame email, and computers in general.
I never write with pen and paper anymore.

My writing is illegible. (Is that a word?) Unrecognizable as english would be another way of putting it.
I can't write! I was taught the "Palmer Method" in grade school. I used to have beautiful handwriting. What happened?  Looking at some notes in my notebook, I notice I do this half print/half write thing. I have no idea where that came from.

Anyway, the site I use to connect with our troops is on my blog, has been for awhile.
One of the stipulations of writing these letters is that it can't be typed, it must be written, you know, by holding the pen and pointing it at a piece of paper and.....well, you know.
If you get the urge to practice your writing, you can do it here at care package project.
It only takes a few minutes.

For those who don't know me, I am not a veteran. Just an American, with terrible penmanship.

How nice to support the troops by writing, eventhough it is "chicken scratch".
Now I do that same thing, half write and half print, but didn't realize it was because I don't write much anymore. Could it be?

Your heart writes very well... Never mind the grip on the pen.
