Broke

We left Houston 3 days ago
destination, the bustling metropolis of Lake Charles, LA.
You can be sure my tongue is planted firmly in my cheek
as I write that.

When I walked out on deck for the first time,
as we headed down river.
I knew instantly it was going to be a good day.

It reminded me of being a kid
and walking out the front door early any summer morning
and letting the door slam behind me,
carrying a baseball glove and stuffing a creme filled donut in my mouth
that would nourish me for the next 4 to 5 hours,
as I headed for the local diamond
without a worry in the world.
I just knew it was going to be a good day.

This day heading down the Houston ship channel
had that same feel,
minus the donut.

As we slid past docks and boats of all sizes

there wasn't a breath of wind,
not a breeze.

It was flat calm at the sea buoy.
It was "On Golden Pond" calm.
That always puts me in a good mood.

Even on this tug boat
where positive attitudes come to die,
not today.

I would be escaping for a day or so.
Escaping the noise of news outlets.
It was nice while it lasted.

"Why don't you just turn it off,"
people ask.
I tried that, it doesn't work,
especially now with our govenrment shut down.
Gotta stay tuned in,
gotta worry, it's my nature.
Blame my mom, she was a worrier too.

Obama and Boehner and Cruz,
oh my.
Our Government, the way it is supposed to work
is the envy of the world.
Many people have died trying to institute our template in their country.

I'm frustrated with our congressman.
Our system, when running on all cylinders works.
It's just broke right now.

Our government right now......is like bad weather.

Totally agree with you - and just like the weather, there's not a damn thing we can do about it!

Beautiful shots! You also spoke the feelings of so many of our fellow Americans so well.

P.S. Did you get your TV back?

I liken the situation to a toilet overflowing with crap. You need to flush several times to get rid of it all.

Don't forget to flush in November for the next few years.

It is disgusting, that is what it is!
I do believe if they weren't receiving their paycheck they would be working harder to solve the issues.
