My backyard looks a little like the surface of the moon today,
stark, desolate and barren,
the result of a very unfriendly winter.
Three weeks ago when I left my house
to join the boat in the Gulf of Mexico,
this severely scarred yard was blanketed with snow,
hiding the amount of work that will be needed to bring this baby back to life.
That's for a later time.
Right now, I'm just going to sit here and enjoy my coffee.

It's been two days since I turned on the news.
No obvious side effects to report.
I'll keep you posted.
**
Mark my word
I will never be one to post
a "TBT" photo on Facebook.
For those of you who are sane enough
not to know what that is,
it's "Throw back Thursday"
where people post photos of themselves from an earlier time.
I can't think of one reason why
I would want to post a photo of myself as a youngster
wearing clam diggers of the '60's
or bell bottoms and leisure suits from the '70's disco era.
But that's just me.
For for those that do...
they look really really cute.

I've lived 58 years without taking a "selfie."
I thought I better keep with the times,
after all, I joined Pinterest.
So, I thought I'd change my profile picture,
and do so by taking the much talked about "selfie."
So I got my smart phone all ready,
straightened out my arm,
checked to be sure the lighting was flattering,
hit the "capture" button,
looked at the result
and my reaction was
AHHHHHHHHH!!
It was scary I tell you.
I don't know who's face that was but it wasn't mine.
My hair CAN NOT be that gray.!
My forehead CAN NOT be that big!
And, who put that hair IN my ears?
I guess the lighting was off.

Here's hoping everyone has a great weekend!!

Oh, for sure it was the lighting!!!!
TBT. I was never a fan of this either, but recently a good friend of ours (then my husband) have been sharing photos of our group of friends from the 80's and 90's. (not selfies mind you) It's actually been fun seeing us, them, us from back in the day....especially since we've lost so many of our friends already; seeing them brings back fond/silly/crazy memories.
Your yard looks nothing like mine and I'm sad for you. HA HA. :) The benefit of living in Florida is that our grass is green 11 months out of the year.
Good philosophy… about trying to go back in time. Keep throwing forward…F F… Forward Friday. It may be the end of a work week (for people whose schedule is not set to the ebb and flow of a floating workplace)… but it's the beginning of, I was about to say the weekend, but changed my mind. It's the beginning of everything. And about that selfie. It definitely is the light, I guess. I couldn't find you on your BLOG post. Do again… Do again… Do again. It's Friday.
Mark, That is so funny..I want to see that leisure suit. You sound like me now, not wanting to really tear into that yard work.Gaaa. Going to take ten men and a mule to pull ours together. I will wish you the time off from your work.Blessings to your family, xoxo,Susie
I'm not a huge fan of selfies I do like tbt of other people....my yard well the rain showed up and now we have a huge lake in our yard instead of snow....I'll take it! I did notice my weeds are already growing so theres that! Have a wonderful weekend!
After MANY hours and much hard work by my husband, our yard is starting to look bearable once again. The garden is planted as well as some ground cover and a couple of new bushes. Give it a couple more weeks of warm weather and it should be good to go.
That's why we have photo editing software, silly.
Come onnnnn!!! Post it! I'm begging you!!!
LOL....
I put a TBT photo up about a month ago.. of my husband and I on our honeymoon. Apparently..... we are not even recongizable. The most common reactions.. and there were about 100 of them on that one photo... were .... WOW... OMG!!!! and WHO WERE THOSE PEOPLE???.....
*sigh*
Selfies are good for learning photographic techniques, so I'm told. The yard will take care of itself, no hurry, have another cup of coffee.
you have a big forehead, too? i call mine a five head…yup, it's that big :)
Lord, I hate most of those selfies...and that TBT, too. lol
We STILL have snow here and have more coming tonight with temps hovering around 20. Great- Who said God doesn't have a sense of humor? April? Not here!
Enjoy your stay home-I'll watch the news for you and let you know if anything earth shattering happens- you know, like Lady Gaga revealing that she has had a sex-change operation (or anything along that order). Have a great night- Diana
I dare you to share that selfie!
Definitely you deserve to sit there with your coffee for awhile, but doesn't you wife have a "honey do" list waiting?
