Hope

We can't seem to do anything yet to stop the disaster unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico.
Here's hoping the Gulf and it's many communities will bounce back.
Katrina showed us all the resiliency of the good folks of that area.
I hope it all works out.

Let's hope the millions of people who visit the Gulf each year as tourist
return again to it's warm waters and welcoming people
to fish the blue waters.
to walk the beaches with their children
telling how they used to come here when they were kids.

The many towns along the Gulf's edge
should be jammed with people in the evening
after a long day on the hot beach.
The salt air prevalent as they ate ice cream
and looked forward to tomorrows fishing trip.

I hope the Gulf returns to the beauty it was
before the well.
I hope it once again looks like this

Here's hoping future generations get to enjoy
the 207 species of fish that call the Gulf home.

I hope the millions of birds that migrate south
and use this beautiful area for their personal bed and breakfast
continue to come.

But most of all, let's hope the lives that are touched today
in a negative way by BP
bounce back to be the thriving, successful and hard working people
that we have come to know.

I hope to one day see again
the brown pelicans feeding
in the wetlands.

I hope the restaurants are once again filled
with people ordering Etouffee and other local delicacies.
The Gulf is unique.
Let's hope.

This post was written because of a post I read written by Diahn, who was invited to take part in
The Spirit of the Gulf Challenge. The Challenge is about sending out positive thoughts to the Gulf area, using whatever medium you have at your disposal. I can't paint an ocean scene, and I have no recent photos of the Gulf area. Only words. I hope it helps in some way.

I've been out of the loop for a few days, so I missed your earlier posts. Sounds like there's alot of diasppointment going around on your boat. I'll bet there are lots of folks out there who want to help in the clean-up. I just hope BP gets it's sh-t together very much sooner than it looks like. I'm stunned that it has gone on so long!

Your horizon photo is gorgeous!!

Hang in . . . :-\

I hope the Gulf returns to it's natural state...hard to believe such a disaster happened and all that it affects.

Beautiful post, Mark. The photo is exactly what I see in my mind's eye, when I think of the gulf. I'm so glad you participated - your words are like a song of hope...

Fantastic tribute to the Gulf--I used to vacation in the Destin area regularly, and I hope to see it's baby-powder beaches back soon.

We all need to remember this...there is hope, always is. Jimmy Buffet was in Pensacola this weekend encouraging everyone to lift their heads and carry on. Maybe it's time we all start doing just that. Nature will take care of this eventually, in the meantime, thanks for spreading some hope!
