A Different Day

The pond like conditions that existed here in Aransas Pass, TX
over the past few days
turned a bit ugly today

convincing many pleasure boaters to stay home.

But not this guy.

or this guy

or this guy

He's camera shy so he turned his back

 and then he ducked

hoping I wouldn't see him.

Silly bird.

These sea birds are absolutely my favorite. With their little-bitty heads, you'd expect them to be dumb; but I think they exhibit more intuition and general smarts than the people in an overloaded tiny sailboat that I saw this morning trying to come into Mission Bay from the Pacific through a particularly high surf. They capsized and had to be rescued. There are other places nearby where the currents are much calmer and safer. Our birds get a bad rap with the "bird brain" label. I like your photos here... as always. Thanks, Mark

That second photo is an awesome shot. That boat operator would LOVE it if he saw it, I'm sure.

The water doesn't look too bad, unless you stop. The guy in the boat is pissed, he called in sick to work :-0

The bird sequence is great!!
