Crab and Coffee

Today is Crab Cake Sunday here on the boat. Actually we don't have crab cakes every Sunday, but if I had my wish........

Today was what I would call a pretty good Sunday. Our boat has been pretty busy this hitch, making trip after trip with not much down time. We arrived here at anchor yesterday and we've been just siting here enjoying this great weather, thinking about going home as we are nearing the end of our 3 week hitch.

So Chuck, our unofficial cook on board/deckhand made one of my favorite dishes.

Ok...so he over did it a bit on the crab cakes. In reality, they weren't as overcooked as this photo makes them out to be. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give the meal a 10. You know why?
Someone cooked today, and who am I to complain.

On the subject of food ( and drink), I came across this website yesterday called CoffeeDetective
. I can not express adequately enough the depression I am going through because I have learned that the coffee junkie who runs this site makes about $6000 a month, FOR TALKING ABOUT COFFEE !!!!

Really? I talk about coffee all the time.
It's 6:50 pm as I write this and I am sipping on a cup of Nantucket"s finest.
I've written of coffee and my love for that beautiful bean on this very blog many times.
I've photographed coffee.
On vacation I post photos of coffee.
I have a map of all the coffee houses in New York.
At home I grind my own coffee.

Why--didn't--I--think--about--starting--a--c0ffee--website?
I can talk about coffee till my pulse is at it's upper limit.

I need to start a website.
Baked beans!! Yeah, a website about baked beans. The different kinds. How best to cook them.
Where to buy the best beans.
How to keep them fresh.

I'm going to check, but I bet someone beat me to the punch on the baked bean website.

With all this being said, if you are a coffee drinker and you're like me and always looking for the great cup of coffee, check out this CoffeeDetective site. I hate to say it, but it is quite interesting.

Mark, I love crab cakes and coffee...but the coffee has to be good. I call myself a coffee connoisseur. LOL. I always say, "I may not know the best cup, but I sure know a bad cup. :) Some eating places I won't even bother to order coffee. The best I have ever had is on cruise ships. The worst, out of the machines at where I used to work. I used to tell the fellows , that Juan Valdez could pee a better cup of coffee than that. LOL. Hope you are getting to go home and enjoy some fun times with your family. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Crab cakes are pretty much at the top of my food list and I've started making my own. I cook them on a cast iron pan on the grill. 6K/month for coffee talk. What a gig.

Ok I am a coffee snob. What's your best coffee? I find something I like and then it doesn't taste as good so I move on. Sometimes I get a cup after dinner in a restaurant and am blown away by the coffee and then the bar raises and I have yet to reach it. Maybe I need to start "perching" my coffee like my mother did? I'm also trying to do only organic so I get limited yet again! LMK what you love!

Great and truly funny post!!

Love crab cakes, not so much coffee.
But you knew that already. Baked beans are a favorite of my husbands, but again not so much for me.
