As we headed up the Hudson River
I looked behind
and photographed the city of Manhattan.
Before 2001, if I took this same picture
you would have seen the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center
soaring into the sky
above the buildings to the left
way in the background.
It's a pretty gloomy somewhat depressing photo,
fitting, I think
just days after the death
of the man who masterminded
unspeakable horror upon thousands.
His death just brings to the surface again
the bad memories of that awful day.
It just wouldn't be right to have a bright sunny
cloudless sky.
Not today
