As we walked around the small town of Venascue, France
a few weeks back I looked through the glass door
of this guys art studio and saw him painting.
Naturally, I grabbed my camera and took a few shots of him,
I thought, very stealthily.
I was wrong.
He suddenly turned toward me and motioned for me to come inside his studio.
I did.
I said, "bonjour"
( one of 3 french words I know)
he said nothing.
Every inch of this place had a painting.
They were laying against chairs, up against walls, everywhere.
I took a few minutes and just looked at his work.
Yeah, I was jealous.
Can't draw a straight line.
I actually have no idea,
but if I were to put a story to this guy,
I'd say he's been sitting in that same chair, painting away
for many many years.
I looked around for a few more minutes,
commenting how beautiful they were.
He said nothing.
You might think,
that the time I spent in his little studio
would have been an uncomfortable few minutes,
with me not able to speak French
and him giving no effort at all to communicate with me,
but it wasn't like that.
I felt totally welcomed in his space.
After a few minutes our eyes met
and I motioned to him, and pointing at my camera, if it would be alright if I took his picture.
He didn't say a word.
He just looked at me like this.....
I took that as a yes.
Click.
I think he communicated quite well.

That is a neat story. You experienced so many stories!
The eyes are the window to the soul...
and you know, dude.. you'd make a heck of a Charles Kuralt.
- just sayin.
Wow, I could have sat there for hours just watching him and taking in the experience.
Yes he did...LOL
Nice paintings

Someone should paint the photo of him that you took. :)
Oh I love these little serendipitous experiences of travel. Great capture.
